Proposed US 78 Split Diamond Interchange, New Albany

In order to improve safety and mobility for the traveling public and to prepare for future anticipated needs, MDOT is proposing a project to construct a split diamond interchange on US Highway 78 near New Albany, Miss. Traffic studies indicate that there will be sufficient traffic demand to warrant improvements in the area. The proposed project will also address traffic needs on South Central Avenue, Carter Avenue and other surrounding routes depending on the constraints provided by the public and required design safety standards. US 78 will also be upgraded to become a part of the new Interstate 22 which will provide a connection to I-20 and I-65 in the Birmingham area to I-55 and I-40 in the Memphis Area.
