Highway 67 from Highway 605 to Highway 49
 

Why is this project necessary?

The purpose of this project is to alleviate traffic congestion on Highway 67 and nearby routes such as Highways 49 and I-10.

What’s happening?

The project provides for paving 9.3 miles of four-lane Highway 67 from Highway 605 to US Highway 49. The grading, drainage and bridgework necessary to construct the new highway was completed in the spring of 2005.

Should motorists expect traffic delays?

The existing two lane highway is expected to remain open during construction, but motorists can expect to encounter periodic lane closures and short detours.

How will the project be funded?

Eighty percent of this project will be funded with federal dollars while MDOT provides the remaining twenty percent.

What company will perform the work?

Huey Stockstill, Inc., of Picayune, Miss was awarded the contract at a cost of $19 million.

When will the project be completed?

The project began in July 2005 with work expected to be completed by the fall of 2007.
