What’s happening?

In spring of 2003, MDOT began a reconstruction project to improve a section of Highway 302/Goodman Road between Highway 51 and Highway 78 in DeSoto County. The project will provide for the removing and replacing of the existing pavement.

The project is scheduled to be performed in two parts. The first part of the project began in June 2003 at Swinnea Road, which is two miles west of Getwell Road, and ended at US Highway 78. It is almost complete.

The second part of the project will began in the Spring of 2004 at US Highway 51 and end at Swinnea Road.

Should motorists expect delays?

Due to the nature of this work, motorists can expect traffic delays. MDOT regrets any inconveniences and delays these necessary projects may cause, and is committed to keeping the public informed in order to keep traffic moving as efficiently and safely as possible.

Location

The highlighted section on the map below indicates the area in which pavement will be removed and then replaced. Traffic delays are expected, and motorists are advised to seek an alternate route or allow extra time for travel. Once completed, motorists will enjoy a smoother, safer highway.
