Why is this project necessary?
The Clinton-Raymond Road/I-20 Interchange is being reconstructed to improve the traffic flow through the interchange. Reconstruction of the interchange started in 1998 when
Phase I was let to contract. The Phase I project relocated the South Frontage Road and provided some immediate improvements to Clinton-Raymond Road.
What's happening?
Phase II of the project will include the reconstruction of the interchange and the widening of Highway 80 to five lanes from Clinton-Raymond Road to Springridge Road. Reconstruction
of the interchange will include replacement of the current interstate bridges over Clinton-Raymond Road which will allow widening of the road underneath. The southern ramps will be
relocated to the south to allow for a loop in the southwest quadrant. This loop will improve access to the interstate for southbound traffic on Clinton-Raymond Road heading east on
I-20. All ramp intersections with Clinton-Raymond Road will be signalized. Highway 80 will be widened to five lanes from Clinton-Raymond Road to Springridge Road to aid traffic
entering and leaving Mississippi College.
The interchange will include lighting and landscaping. Landscaping will also be provided for Clinton-Raymond Road and Highway 80.
Should motorists expect traffic delays?
Motorists can expect lane closures throughout the duration of the project.
When is the construction scheduled to begin?
The project was let to contract in August 2004 and work is scheduled to begin by the end of August. Key LLC of Madison, Miss., will be performing the work at an estimated cost of $18.6 million
When will the project be completed?
Construction on the project is expected to be completed in the Winter of 2007.
