MDOT Announces Jackson Area Active Project Updates

 

JACKSON, MISS., Monday, December 7, 2009---The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) would like to announce the following Jackson Area Active Project Updates ongoing in Hinds County.

 

  • Crews were working on an overlay project on I-20 between Gibralter Street and Pearl River and I-55 from McDowell Road to I-20.  Contractor working on this project was Dickerson and Bowen and the project is 100 percent complete.

 

  • Lighting project ongoing to upgrade interstate lighting on I-20, I-55, U.S. Highway 49, and U.S. Highway 51.  Contractor working on this project is Fountain Construction and the project is 48 percent complete.

 

  • Crews are performing a mill and overlay project on I-20 from Pearson Road to Greenfield Road. Contractor working on this project is APAC and the project is 60 percent complete.

 

  • Crews will soon begin replacing the I-20 Westbound Bridge over U.S. Highway 51 and State Street.  The contractor working on this project is Tanner Construction and it is 2.0 percent complete.

 

  • Concrete median barriers are being installed along I-55 at Lakeland Drive interchange.  The contractor working on this project is American Field Service.  This project is 60 percent complete.

 

  • Crews were installing traffic signals at Shaw Road and U. S. Highway 80.  This is an ARRA project.  The contractor working on this project was C & L Construction.  The project is 100 percent complete.

 

  • Crews are currently working on a mill and overlay project on Highway 25 between Highway 471 and Highway 43. This is an ARRA project.  The contractor on this project is Superior Asphalt and it is 16 percent complete.

 

  • Overlay project on Highway 80 from Terry Road to Springridge Road is an ARRA project.  The contractor on this project is Dickerson and Bowen and it is 40 percent complete.

 

  • Construction has begun to build an interchange at I-20/I-59 and Hawkins Road and 23rd Avenue.  The contractor on this project is Racon, Inc. and the project is 21 percent complete.

 

  • Earthwork, drainage and paving will be done on Highway 19 between Lauderdale County Line and Highway 492.  The contractor working on this project is Eutaw Construction and the project is 25 percent complete.

 

  • Earthwork, drainage and paving will be done on Highway 19 between Collinsville to the Newton County Line.  The contractor on this project is L&T Construction and the project is 45 percent complete.

 

MDOT urges motorists to obey the posted speed limit, reduce your speed in construction work zones, allow extra distance between your vehicle and the car in front of you, and always drive with extreme caution while traveling through work zones.
