The Assistant Chief Engineer – Operations is responsible for the coordination and direction of three divisions under his supervision. These divisions are Contract Administration, Materials, and Research. In general, Operations supports MDOT’s overall mission through the construction of the State Maintained Highway System with emphasis on quality control of materials, the administration of MDOT contracts with the private sector and implementation of efficient and safe traffic control standards. The Assistant Chief Engineer – Operations responds to the Transportation Commission and/or nondepartmental entities concerning MDOT’s position on operational matters and coordinates MDOT activities with state and federal governmental agencies. He also coordinates the activities and needs of district personnel and divisions outside Operations.
