The Contract Administration Division performs a vital function as one of the basic and continuous contacts between the highway contractors and MDOT. This division is structured to efficiently manage statewide administration functions necessary for the letting of construction and maintenance contracts.

Projects awarded to contract are tracked through the division from the programmed stage, to advertisement for and the taking of bids, notification of award and concurrence from the Federal Highway Administration. Notices to proceed, payment of progress estimates, contract compliance reviews, checking of final quantities, and notice of final settlement of contract are also performed here.

The Contract Administration Division is divided into five elements: contract compliance, federal aid, final plans, contract records and services, and administration.
