The Chief Engineer is MDOT’s chief technical officer. He is responsible for the development and execution of all technical policies and procedures. The chief may also exercise general and/or technical supervision of all functions of MDOT.

The Assistant Chief Engineers for Operations and Preconstruction, Field Operations, six District Engineers, and MDOT’s representative on the Appeals Board all report to the Chief Engineer.

The Office of Highways is comprised of multiple sections that involve the design and construction of the highways within the State of Mississippi. There are 19 sections that report to the Chief Engineer.
